Here's a fine example of a popular Mexican pottery
piece, the covered hen dish. This one dates back to
the 1950's or 60's and is in exellent condition. The
primary color is an olive green which has a metallic
glaze to it. I read somewhere that this glaze was created
because animal fat was rubbed on the pottery before
it was fired. There are no chips or cracks in this piece,
no flaking paint, this hen is in just about the best
condition of any I have ever owned. It measures 10 1/2"
wide by 8 1/2" tall.
