No. P-661 - Juan Torras Pottery-
Emiliano Zapata

Large pottery statue of Zapata by famous Mexican artist and potter, Juan Torras. Torras popularized the the La Catrina clay figure, a favorite symbol of the Day of the Dead holiday. Torras was a well know painter who discovered he liked working in clay in the 1980's. He went on to create many fine pieces of folk art pottery. This piece is an example of his work.

The statue is large, measuring 31" tall by 8 1/4" wide by 5" deep at the base. Zapata is holding his dog head sword and an ax. His jacket has the symbol of the Mexican flag on the back. The piece is signed on the base. Not sure of its age, it is in good condition.

The only problem I noted was that the sword was broken near the hand, It was a clean break and it was glued back right away judging by the condition which shows no other damage other than the line where it was broken and reglued.

The item will ship at 15 pounds for $23.50 postage. Postage includes extra weight for packing, any excess postage charged will be refunded to buyer's Paypal account.
